In Home Assessments

Our comprehensive In home assessment determines the client’s level of pre and post injury functional abilities. The reports are objective, based on facts and observations. Once identified, appropriate, clear and practical recommendations are made to minimize functional barriers and promote the client’s recovery and gradual resumption of pre-injury homemaking, care giving and other activities of daily living.

Functional Ability Evaluations

A client’s level of physical abilities may be impaired as a result of injuries sustained compared to their pre-injury status. In a Functional Ability Evaluation (FAE), consultants assess a multitude of different physical demands. The results of this evaluation allow the consultant to determine a client’s level of physical functioning in order to help establish whether he or she can safely return to work or to a modified routine and also to determine the need for further treatment.

At AMS we believe in using state of the art technology such as the ARCON system, as functional testing equipment, so that we are better able to serve our clients.

The FAE can identify job accommodations necessary to avoid further injury, as well as determine a client’s physical compatibility for a new, targeted job. It can also predict the client’s ability to perform specific tasks following acute rehabilitation or work hardening.

The resulting report provides recommendations that assist in the development of rehabilitation or return to work plan.

Work Site Assessments

A work-site assessment is a key tool that analyses and determines the exact physical demands and related tasks of a specified job.
The importance of this assessment for the clients who are employed at the time of loss is demonstrated through the following;

1. Pre-accident employment bears a direct relationship to benefits

2. Provides a guideline for treatment programs;

3. Assists in the development/implementation of return to work program.

Ergonomic Assessments

In an Ergonomic Assessment consultants evaluate the client’s tasks and the workstation. This analysis is used to assess the risk factors, hazards and barriers to recovery that have the potential to cause discomfort and further aggravate the client’s injuries upon return to work.

Our consultants then identify any necessary prevention strategies or job modifications that can accommodate the needs of the client.

After the assessment is completed, the client is educated and trained in methods that reduce strain, increase overall comfort and minimize the risk of future injury thereby improving overall productivity at work.

Psychological Assessments

As a result of motor vehicle accident injuries clients may experience a multitude of thoughts, emotions and psychological issues such as anxiety, depression, nightmares and stress. A psychological assessment provides the referral source with an independent opinion on the client’s current psychological/emotional status and identifies the issues which may impede successful return to pre-injury status.
